Unitree G1 — nominated by HIVE Robots — wins the DIRA Technology Prize 2026

The DIRA Technology Prize 2026 goes to the humanoid robot Unitree G1, nominated by HIVE Robots.
A specialised horticulture robot, a GPS-free navigation technology and a groundbreaking humanoid robot — those were the three fascinating technologies competing for the DIRA Technology Prize 2026. At ROBOTBRAG 2026, each technology was presented to the jury, and the verdict went to Unitree G1, nominated by HIVE Robots.
"The Unitree G1 represents a technology that will shape our future. The robot has the potential to give Danish companies a decisive head start on the learning curve and motivate them to take the first important steps into the humanoid era," the jury stated.
A platform for the next leap in automation
Unitree G1, distributed in Denmark by HIVE Robots, is a humanoid robot that represents the future of humanoid technology and the next major leap in automation. It is a physical platform that allows Danish companies to start building the software and competencies that will be decisive once humanoid robots are integrated into industry at scale.
"The dream of a human-like robot has existed for a long time, but the breakthrough here is that the technology is now accessible. Unitree G1 lets companies get their hands on the hardware and begin the learning journey that's needed. The potential is enormous, and by engaging now, Denmark can build the experience that will be decisive for the real implementation of humanoid robots in the future," the jury explained.
The jury especially highlighted the robot's role as a catalyst for skills development: "Unitree G1 wins not only for what it is today, but for what it represents for the future. It motivates companies to mature their organisation and get used to a technology that's coming. We need it to get ahead on the learning curve and develop Danish software so humanoid robots can solve real, value-creating tasks in the future."
A strong field reflecting an industry in rapid development
Unitree G1 took home the prize, but the jury was impressed by all three nominees — alongside NaviGuider, a sensor-based navigation module that offers a robust alternative to GPS in environments where satellite navigation is unreliable, and 4XROBOTS-301, a collaborative robot for the horticulture industry that can replant plants quickly and work side by side with people.
The jury consisted of Bjørn Godske (journalist, Ingeniøren), John Christiansen (Head of Automation and Robotics, LEGO), Jesper Lilledal (Partner, EIFO Venture and Growth) and Henrik Hegelund Louw (Associate Director, Novo Nordisk).
A huge thank you to DIRA, the jury, our partners, customers — and most importantly the entire HIVE team. This recognition belongs to everyone who has been part of the journey so far. We are just getting started.
